Wimbachgries – Ingolstädter Haus

• Access Information Wimbachgries Hut: The Wimbachgries Hut is open from 23 May until mid-October. Accommodation must be booked in advance via the online booking portal. Further information: https://www.wimbachgrieshuette.de/#about The scenic ascent to the Ingolstädter Haus – open from June to October – begins at the Wimbachgrieshütte. The route follows path no. 411 uphill, initially through sparse woodland, across a broad saddle between the Hirschwiesenkopf and Rauhe Köpfe hilltops, and finally, becoming increasingly steep, past the ruined Trischübelalm, keeping to the right through the Hundstodgrube up to the Hundstodgatterl. From there, you are in the Steinernes Meer and the approach becomes increasingly off-track. In the final section, with the Ingolstädter Haus already in sight, you cross a vast area of karst terrain. At the Ingolstädter Haus, you can stop for refreshments or stay overnight (subject to prior booking), or you can head straight back along the same route. Please note: Sturdy footwear, sure-footedness, a head for heights and a good sense of direction are strongly recommended.
