Scenic stage 41 of the Violet Via Alpina long-distance hiking trail, Bavaria.
The Violet Via Alpina Trail leads through Austria, Slovenia and Germany on 66 stages. In Bavaria, it mostly follows the Maximiliansweg.
From the Kärlinger Haus, it follows the serpentines through the much-travelled "Saugasse". The path is stony but well developed. Once you reach somewhat flatter terrain, you pass the beautiful Schrainbach waterfall, where a magnificent view of the famous Königssee lake soon opens up. The trail leads to the Bartolomä jetty. This is where the special feature of the tour begins - the boat trip to Königssee (note the boat timetable, see tips for link).
