Steinernes Meer Section 3: Wasseralm - Kärlingerhaus

The popular "Steinernes Meer" hut tour is divided into four daily stages. Stage 3 runs with lots of ups and downs through varied, charming countryside, from the Wasseralm in the Röth to the Kärlingerhaus at Funtensee. Great mountain cinema including a far-reaching view of Königssee is not to be missed. From the seasonally managed Wasseralm, the trail leads partly across alpine pastures and partly through the forest in the direction of Halsköpfl. Once there, it's worth taking a detour, and the ascent is rewarded with great views. Back on the trail, there is a wooded and rocky descent to the Schwarzsee lake and a fairly easy walk through the Grünsee basin to the Grünsee lake. The trail leads partly over the Himmelsleiter - terrain steps equipped with wooden ladders. A final steep climb awaits you in the high valley between Glunkerer and Simetsberg until you descend via the Funtenseesattel to your destination.
