The starting point of this tour in the heart of the Berchtesgarden National Park is the Kessel landing stage on the famous Königssee. To get across the lake, you should check the boat schedules (see tips).
From there, you walk along the Reitsteig trail to the Gotzenalm, which is open from mid-May to October, past the summit of the Warteck and the magnificent "Feuerpalfen" viewpoint. Here you can stop for a bite to eat. The view over the Königssee, the pilgrimage church of St Bartholomä, the Watzmann east face and the surrounding Alps is incredibly beautiful. The route continues via the Priesbergalm and Königsbachalm on well-maintained but sometimes steep forest paths to Schönau am Königsee.
