From the Wachterl hiking car park, which is subject to a fee, the rather lonely and unmarked Einshotne Steig climbs steeply up to the summits of the Edelweißlahnerkopf, Schottmalhorn, Hohes Gerstfeld and the Steinberg rider. The ascent requires a certain level of fitness and surefootedness.
The further path runs along a plateau and finally relaxed downhill to the seasonally managed Neue Traunsteiner Hütte. There you can stop and stay overnight with prior booking. The partly steep and shady Wachterlsteig trail leads back to the car park.
