Challenging and panoramic circular hike near Ramsau/Berchtesgaden, Bavaria.
This beautiful but challenging circular rewards with spectacular views of the Bavarian Alps. The trail is very steep in places and leads along secured paths (with ropes). Being sure-footed is definitely required.
From Ramsau (pay and display car park at the timber storage area), the trail leads uphill on well-maintained paths via the managed Schärtenalm to the Blaueishütte. There is a great spot to take a break with a wonderful view before the ascent to the Schärtenspitze begins. From here, the route becomes more technically challenging with secured climbs in rugged terrain.
The descent leads along a narrow ridge to the Eisbodenscharte. From there, the route descends on secured paths to the Hochalm. The last section leads through the forest back to Ramsau.
