Beautiful circular route near Ohlstadt, Bavaria
The route leads to the area of the Illingberge-the big and the small, which are an insider tip, also because they are not yet overcrowded. The start is from the car park in Ohlstadt and soon the trail leads to the ruins of Veste Schaumburg, a former hilltop castle on a rocky plateau. The trail continues through beautiful forest and along a gravel path that offers great hill views. Before it goes to the Großer Illing, it gets a little steeper. Then all that is left to do is enjoy: the view over the Loisachtal to the Ammergau Alps, Staffelsee and Riegsee - very idyllic! It is recommended to bring something for a picnic due to the lack of refreshments. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are recommended, as the path is often narrow and uneven.
