The picturesque Forggensee is the fifth-largest lake in Bavaria and can be wonderfully circumnavigated as part of a cycle tour. Along the way, there are campsites and the pretty towns of Roßhaupten and Rieden am Forggensee, which offer refreshment stops and overnight accommodation. The route can, therefore, be completed in several days if required.
The route starts at the smaller but equally picturesque Bannwaldsee on roads, farm tracks, and side roads with little traffic. A longer ascent and a few upswings await along the route.
The cycle tour can be combined in the summer with a boat trip on the municipal Forggensee boat service. There are eight stops around the lake where it is possible to change to the boat.
