Destination Oberammergau. Please note that the return journey to Füssen by public transport is not easy. During the school holidays in Bavaria, the buses are even less frequent.

This route follows stage 8 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning at the Tegelberghaus and ending at Schloss Linderhof. The path crosses the ridge of the Tegelberg past the Branderschrofen summit before descending the zigzagging Ahornreitweg trail into a forested valley. It passes the Bockstallsee lake and climbs across the flowery meadows of the Bäckenalm, then winds down through the Sägertal into the Ammertal to reach the royal Linderhof Palace....
