From Schloss Elmau, idyllically situated in the mountains, the route leads up to the famous Hoher Kranzberg and on to Ferchensee. If hikes at higher altitudes are not possible due to the weather, then this is a route that is also feasible in bad weather in the foothills of the Alps.
The route leads almost entirely through shady forest and partly across meadows. From the meadows of the Kranzberg, however, there is a fantastic view over the treetops into the Alpine foothills. With a stop at the idyllic Ferchensee lake, the route takes you back to the castle in a relaxed manner.
