This is the second stage of the certified SaaleHorizontale quality trail, a wonderful hike through the Saale valley with start and finish in Jena.
The second stage of the long-distance hiking trail starts in Ziegenhain and ends in Beutnitz. This section is also a lot of uphill and downhill - sturdy shoes and a certain level of fitness are highly recommended. Great views, for example from the Königsstuhl, and cultural and historical attractions such as the impressive ruins of the Kunitzburg make for an unforgettable experience. There are places to stay overnight and restaurants.
