A well-developed cycle path along the route of the former cannon railway from Dingelstädt to Frieda. In the past, railway lines that had a strategic military purpose were known as "Kanonenbahn" ("cannon railways"). The route can be extended individually as it is connected to many other popular cycle routes, including the Unstrut-Hahle Cycle Route, the Unstrut Cycle Route and the Werratal Cycle Route.
The starting point is close to Silberhausen railway station and can therefore be reached by public transport. From the finish point, the Eschwege railway station can be reached via the Werratal cycle path with the Frieda connection. There are refreshment stops along the route.
