Challenging and impressive loop at the Kriebstein dam, Saxony, Germany
This recommended route combines beautiful nature, history and lots of water. The start is at the paid parking lot directly at the Zschopautalhalle. It goes along the wildly romantic Zschopau in a large loop that is perfect for a day tour. On the way there is a lot of variety, ascents and descents and Saxony's most beautiful knight's castle (Kriebstein). The Lutherweg Saxony (spiritual loop of Luther's work) is crossed near the castle. The fantastic view of the Zschopau river loop can be enjoyed. There are benches at the dam to take in the beautiful view or to take a break. The ferry that leaves every hour can be used at the Erlebach ferry port (see tips). Refreshments are possible along the way.
