The Zschopau is a tributary of the Freiberg Mulde. The Zschopau rises on the northern slope of the Fichtelberg at an altitude of 1,070 m. After 128 km the Zschopau flows into the Freiberg Mulde at Schweta (Döbeln). Worth seeing on the section from Mittweida to Döbeln are the Kriebstein dam and the so-called 6 km long bankruptcy mile with imposing bridges between Waldheim and Limmritz. From the Kreuzfelsen and from the Nixkluft, hikers have a wonderful view of the Zschopau valley.

A nice Sunday bike ride along the Szchopau. This route leads from Frankenberg to Kriebstein Castle, which is always worth a trip. However, some strenuous inclines can be expected along the way.
