Hinterhermsdorf Round

This picturesque route leads through the easternmost tip of Saxon Switzerland, right on the border with the Czech Republic. The trail opens up the unspoilt rocky landscape around the state-approved resort of Hinterhermsdorf and runs along a varied mix of historic cobbled paths, rooty forest trails and impressive rock steps. A key highlight is the proximity to the Kirnitzschklamm gorge and the viewpoints such as the Weifberg tower, which offers a 360-degree view of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the Bohemian Central Uplands. The deep gorges and dense coniferous forests are perfect for spotting black storks, peregrine falcons and, if you're lucky, lynx, while the traditional half-timbered houses in the village provide a unique cultural backdrop. The route includes some tough climbs and requires surefootedness, especially in the rugged rocky areas.
