Popular, panoramic hiking trail near Blankenburg, Saxony-Anhalt.
The route starts at the car park on the B81. From here, the route leads past the Großer Papenberg mountain to the Alte Heerstraße on the Regenstein. After a stop at the Great Sand Caves, the hike then leads to Regenstein Castle and Fortress. The castle is carved into the rock and the atmosphere here is unique! The castle can be visited for a fee and there are also individual guided tours and a bistro on the grounds. The castle is also a stamping point for the Harz Hiking Needle.
