The Lunzberge cover an area of 60.52 hectares. The nature reserve stretches from the Lettin district to the Saale ferry at Brachwitz and Neuragoczy.
The porphyry elevations and overlapping slopes of loess black earth are home to rocky and pioneer meadows, dry and semi-dry grasslands and dwarf shrub heaths.
Black locust trees have been planted on individual porphyry slopes, but these are not worth protecting. There are only small areas of forest and woodland.
