Saar-Hunsrück-Steig Stage 4: Britten - Losheim am See

This route follows stage 4 of the certified Saar-Hunsrück-Steig premium trail, connecting Britten with Losheim am See on a scenically diverse section. The hike begins in Britten and initially climbs past seemingly endless mountain meadows that reward hikers with sweeping views at the ridge. After a descent into the idyllic Pansbach Valley, narrow paths lead along the stream to the Girtenmühle and the village of Bergen. Hiking through the romantic Rotenbach Valley, the trail crosses a ridge that opens up fantastic, wide views over large parts of the Saarland. Passing fern meadows, forest ponds, an abandoned quarry, and the Metzerbach Valley, the path finally approaches the Losheim Reservoir (Losheimer Stausee). Here, a beautiful Kneipp facility with a barefoot path and the Park der Vierjahreszeiten (Park of the Four Seasons) invite visitors to relax before the stage ends at the tourist information center right on the lakeshore. Cozy refreshments and excellent accommodations are available directly at the Losheim Reservoir as well as in the villages along the route; wild camping is prohibited.
