Varied circular hike in the Palatinate Forest, Rhineland-Palatinate.
This round northwest of Deidesheim can be started either from the Sensental car park or from the car park in Burgstraße (Wachenheim). In some places it is quite steep uphill to the Eckkopf, from whose 25 m high lookout tower you have great views of the Palatinate Forest and the surrounding vineyards. In part you hike here on the Palatinate Wine Trail and on the last few kilometers the route is identical to the German Wine Route hiking trail.
You can also stop off at the Eckkopf (note the opening times). As a cultural-historical highlight, a detour to the Wachtenburg is worthwhile at about half the route.
The route runs through the forest and part of the route runs through a hamlet (residential area) and zigzags through the vineyards.
