Rheinsteig Stage 6: Leutesdorf - Rengsdorf

This route follows stage 6 of the Rheinsteig, which begins in Leutesdorf and ends in Rengsdorf. The trail leaves the Rhine banks and ascends through the Hohlbachtal to follow vineyard paths and forest tracks, offering views over the Neuwied Basin. Hikers pass the Feldkirchen water park and cross the Kehlbachtal and Aubachtal before descending into the Wied Valley to cross an ancient stone bridge by the Altwied Castle ruins. The final section climbs a steep serpentine path past a waterfall into the Westerwald hills to reach Rengsdorf. Overnight stays are accommodated in local guesthouses and hotels; wild camping is strictly prohibited along this section. Hikers should pack a water filter to safely treat surface water from natural streams between towns.
