This route follows stage 7 of the Moselsteig, connecting Mehring with Leiwen on a challenging section through the so-called Mehringer Schweiz (Mehring Switzerland). The hike leads along steep paths through diverse fir, spruce, and beech forests. A standout highlight of the tour is the 20-meter (65-foot) wooden observation tower offering the famous Fünfseenblick (Five-Lake View)—an optical illusion where the loops of the Moselle appear as five distinct lakes. On the first fifth of the trail, a detour to the Triolago leisure lake is also worthwhile before the path descends steeply into the wine village of Leiwen.
