This route follows stage 14 of the Moselsteig, connecting the picturesque village of Reil with the wine town of Zell (Moselle) on a historically and scenically impressive section. The hike initially follows the tracks of the historic "Kanonenbahn" railway into the vineyards. Absolute highlights include the observation tower on the Prinzenkopf and the historic Marienburg. From here, hikers can enjoy a spectacular view of the Marienburg ridge, where the Moselle completes a 14-kilometer loop while the neck of the peninsula is only 400 meters wide at its narrowest point, before the trail descends into the home of the famous "Zeller Schwarze Katz" vineyard.
Overnight stays are available in the numerous hotels and guesthouses in Reil or Zell; wild camping is prohibited.
