Moselsteig Stage 11: Bernkastel-Kues - Ürzig

This route follows stage 11 of the Moselsteig, connecting the medieval town of Bernkastel-Kues with the wine village of Ürzig on a botanically and scenically delightful section. The hike alternates between panoramic ridges offering sweeping views of the Moselle loops and pleasantly cool forested stretches. Cultural and culinary highlights along the way include the former Cistercian monastery of Machern and the Zeltingen variety garden (Sortengarten), where rare and exotic fruits flourish, before the stage eventually concludes in historic Ürzig with its famous spice garden. Overnight stays are available in the numerous hotels in Bernkastel-Kues or at the cozy wineries in Ürzig and Zeltingen-Rachtig; wild camping is prohibited. Refreshments can be found directly at Machern Monastery as well as in the diverse local restaurants in the wine villages along the trail.
