Moselsteig Stage 10: Monzel - Bernkastel-Kues

This route follows the 10th stage of the Moselsteig and connects Osann-Monzel with the famous twin town of Bernkastel-Kues along a stretch of great cultural and historical significance. The hike leads through imposing rock cliffs with distinctive layers of slate and passes through world-renowned vineyards such as the “Brauneberger Juffer.” The trail climbs steadily along varied hillside paths until it finally reaches the majestic Landshut Castle. From there, a spectacular view opens up over the Moselle Valley and the medieval old town of Bernkastel-Kues, the destination of this stage. Accommodations are available in the numerous historic hotels and guesthouses in Bernkastel-Kues or at the winegrowers’ estates in Osann-Monzel; wild camping is prohibited. There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments along the route as well as in the lively dining scene of Bernkastel-Kues. Transportation is provided by regional bus lines (including routes to Wittlich or Trier); the nearest major train station is in Wittlich, which is easily accessible by regional bus.
