Heidehimmel Volkesfeld

The Traumpfad Heidehimmel Volkesfeld is a certified premium hiking trail. Medicinal water and juniper heather, lush flowering meadows, aromatic heather, quiet forests and overwhelming panoramic views enchant the hiker. Quaint huts tempt you to rest, refreshment is provided by the “Sauerbrunnen” mineral spring. The path begins at the parking lot at the “Sauerbrunnen” mineral spring on the L 83 in the Nettetal. A path leads to the starting point at the “Sauerbrunnen” mineral spring. Rustic wooden steps and a soft forest path open up the first view of the Nettetal and lead on to Volkesfeld. This is where the ascent to the impressive and widely visible Riethelkreuz begins with a fabulous panoramic view - embedded in spicy juniper heather. The path comfortably follows the ridge and passes the nearby new development area in a wide arc on meadow paths that lead around the village. After a short forest passage and open meadows, another wonderful panorama opens up at the crossing of the K 63. Leaving the people's field behind, the path leads over a soft dirt road to a rest area. Soon a narrow path climbs the heights of the Wabern Heath and presents unspoilt junipers, glowing gorse and gnarled pines. With the best view in almost all directions, the Waberner Wacholderhütte invites you to linger. Continuing through the heather, the path changes into the forest to the Falkleyblick rock spur with a unique view of the low-lying Nettetal. With a bit of luck, wild Cameroon sheep can be observed on the following forest and meadow passages. A short detour (500 m in total) leads to the Noorkopf with a 270 ° view. Back on the way, it leads down the field edge to the Florianshütte with a beautiful view of the Nettetal. In the forest it goes in wide loops down into the valley. At the end of the tour, the iron-rich water of the “Sauerbrunnen” mineral spring invites you to enjoy healthy refreshment before the path ends at the hiking car park.
