This beautiful trail offers numerous viewpoints around Altenahr. The ascent to the Teufelsloch is one of the highlights of this hike.
The first great vantage point after the hike begins at Altenahr railroad station is the "black cross" on the Heislei. Here, the view sweeps over Altenahr, the Langfigtal valley, Are Castle and the "Teufelsloch". The path leads up to this point with a steep ascent, rewarded by magnificent views of Altenahr, Are Castle and the village of Altenburg to the south-west.
Another ascent leads to the "Hornberg", the highest point of the tour. The scenic route continues through the Ahrschleife nature reserve to the "Schrock" and on to the "Teufelsley". Here, too, there are always great views of the Ahr valley and the Saffenburg ruins. The Rotweinstrasse and the Tunnelstarsse lead back to the starting point.
