From Altenahr you hike on the popular "red wine trail" past vineyards to above Rech. Then it goes down into the Ahr valley and back to the starting point along the Ahr (free parking lot at the end of the cable car road). There are refreshment stops in Altenahr, Mayschoss and Rech. Accessible by bus and train (a short walk from Altenahr train station).
Due to the flood of the century in summer 2021, there may still be restrictions on the hiking route.
