This is the first stage of the varied, approximately 115 km long Roman Canal hiking trail, which follows the course of a canal constructed by the Romans in the 1st century from Nettersheim through the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park to Sülz.
The starting point of the first stage is in Nettersheim and the section ends in Dottel. Paths close to nature in the Urft valley, great views of the Eifel, medieval castles and relics from Roman times ensure that it never gets boring.
