Lengerich via Tecklenburg Region

Lengerich through the Tecklenburger Land region leads over the ridges of the Teutoburg Forest, which is known as the region's "sun terrace". This circular route combines sections of the historic Hermannsweg trail with narrow meadow paths and dense beech forests. The terrain includes frequent differences in altitude and steep climbs that require constant physical endurance. Highlights include the turquoise-coloured waters of the Lengerich Canyon, a former limestone quarry and now a nature reserve. The route also borders the medieval town of Tecklenburg, famous for its 13th century castle ruins and well-preserved half-timbered houses. Technically uncomplicated but steady climbs in a landscape steeped in history and geological significance can be expected.
