The themed trail comprises 41 historically interesting stations and documents the historical development of the Alt-Arnsberg district. It is advisable to obtain the brochure "Erlebnis-Wanderführer" in advance (available from the Arnsberg Tourist Office, Arnsberg bookshops and the Sauerland Museum). The loop leads through parts of what is now the Obereimer nature reserve on the territory of the former electorate of Thiergarten Arnsberg. There are lots of places to discover such as a lost bridge, a manor, the "Schwedenschanze" and a natural forest cell. The route is well signposted and the individual stops are numbered.
