The route starts in Volkspark Gerthe. The route leads clockwise through extremely varied terrain to the south and then back again. There are wonderful wide field paths, but also great little trails in the forest. Water is also a constant companion: the Ruhr and the lakes it forms are mainly to be found in the southern part of the route. Once you reach Bochum-Dahlhausen station, the surroundings become increasingly urban.
