This versatile and well-visited route brings a touch of Tuscany to the Eifel. In the middle of the "cypresses of the north," it is easy to forget that the trail is in the German low mountain ranges. The many juniper heaths and the dry slopes are also reminiscent of more southern European areas. In some places, in secluded spots, several old crosses and crucifixes exist.
From the starting point, the route heads towards the Eifelsteig, which goes up to the Kalvarienberg. This is the EifelSpur's highlight and is in the middle of the “Lampertstal” juniper conservation area. This is the largest contiguous juniper area in North Rhine-Westphalia. The hill offers a phenomenal 360-degree view of the Eifel Heights. The route goes back downhill around Alendorf and finally back over the Eifelsteig.
