This is the first stage of the Bachtäler Höhenroute, a three-day long-distance hike in the Eifel. The starting point is Zweifall, which can also be reached by bus. From here, the hiking trail leads from north to south through the Hürtgen Forest and through several nature reserves. It is worth spending a little more time in the Todtenbruch high moor and exploring the moor on the soil nature trail. Since the Hürtgen Forest was the scene of some battles between the US Army and the German armed forces during World War II, relics such as bunkers can still be found here today. There are overnight accommodations in Simonskall.
