Historic hike in the Teutoburg Forest, Lower Saxony / North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Eselspatt connects the cities of Osnabrueck and Tecklenburg and leads on a beautiful route through the Teutoburg Forest. As early as the Middle Ages, donkeys packed with merchandise are said to have been driven towards the Osnabrueck market. Exactly there, at the historic town hall of the Hasestadt, the Eselspatt can be started. If you don't feel like walking in the city for about four km, you should get on at the starting point suggested on the map.
The route is really nice to walk despite a fairly high proportion of paved paths. Unfortunately, the signage leaves something to be desired, which is why GPS navigation is a great advantage.
The VWO hiking trail Eselspatt can be reached by bus and train.
