Heidschnuckenweg Stage 3: Handeloh - Undeloh

This route is stage 3 of the Heidschnuckenweg, a long-distance hiking trail through Lower Saxony that begins in Handeloh and ends in Undeloh. The trail winds its way through the marshy Seevetal, where a forest of moss-covered oaks and beeches, almost primeval in character, lines the meandering River Seeve. After passing through the traditional heathland village of Wehlen, the section crosses the vast Weseler Heide with views of the historic Pastorenteiche ponds and gentle, juniper-covered hills. The stage ends in Undeloh, where a 13th-century fieldstone church and the Heide-Erlebnis-Zentrum await. Accommodation is available in guesthouses and hotels in Handeloh or Undeloh, as wild camping is strictly prohibited in the nature reserve. Water is available at the start and end points, but walkers should carry sufficient supplies for the sun-exposed sections through the open heathland.
