15th section of the official Elbe long-distance cycle route (left-hand side) from Bad Schandau along the Elbe to its mouth in the North Sea The Elbe Cycle Route begins at Špindlerův Mlýn (Spindleruv Mlyn) in the north of the Czech Republic and ends after 1280 kilometers in Cuxhaven at the mouth of the Elbe into the North Sea. This cycle route follows the course of the German Elbe from Bad Schandau on the left bank of the Elbe. The long-distance cycle route in Germany is also known as D-Route 10. The Elbe Cycle Route passes through the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. This stage starts in Stade and can also be planned as a day trip starting from Stade station. It takes you through beautiful marshland with its many ditches, through the historic town of Neuhaus and other charming villages with half-timbered houses and beautiful alleyways. There are restaurants and bistros in the villages. The long-distance cycle route has been voted Germany's most popular long-distance cycle route by members of the ADFC for the 13th time in a row.
