Charming bike route in Bad Soden-Salmünster, Hesse. Charming valleys, mountains with a wonderful view and forests full of character determine the character of this tour. After the start in Mernes, the forces have to be mobilized in order to cope with the ascent to the Stackenberg. A unique heathland and a great view of the Jossatal reward the ascent. When the weather is clear, you can see the Wasserkuppe and the Kreuzberg in the Rhön in the distance. On a high path along the Hessian-Bavarian border, the tour leads to the "Drei Marksteinen". An open beech forest defines this section of the path, before it now descends on a forestry path and then on a forest path to Marjoss. Crossing Marjoss, the tour continues into the Rohrbach valley On the left-hand side, the trail now climbs gently upwards along the Rohrbach. Here you can observe the activities of the beaver in the beautiful landscape of the Rohrbach Valley. Accompanied by changing forest images, past hunters' graves, the forest at the level of the Alsberg golf course is open to mountain bikers again. A thank you waves a great view over the Kinzig valley. From this point the Eselsweg accompanies the tour with its structure and guidance. The Eselsweg is a long-distance hiking trail through the Spessart. It gets its name from the donkey caravans in the Middle Ages, the salt from the salt works in Bad Orb and brought Fulda to Miltenberg for embarkation. For ambitious mountain bikers, the Eselsweg from Schlüchtern to Klein-Heubach (approx. 112 km) a great mountain bike tour. At the intersection of the Eselsweg with the Spessartbogen, this is left and it goes on a forestry path to Mernes. After leaving the forest behind, the route leads over a meadow path into an old ravine. A little inconspicuous at the beginning, this descent makes increased demands on mountain bikers. If this is too boring for you, you can integrate one or the other ramp into the descent, which is located on the edge of the path. At the end of the ravine you can catch another glimpse of Mernes and the Jossatal before the starting point of the tour is reached again.
