Spessartbiken 07: Flörsbachrunde

A varied bike tour in Flörsbachtal, Hesse. The tour is a thanksgiving to the Spessart between Flörsbach and Biebertal. Forest paths, trails and cultural paths shape the picture of the route. It does not work without forestry paths, because of the natural landscape that is presented, this can be tolerated. After the ascent in Hartgrund near Flörsbach, you can quickly reach the Wiesbütt nature reserve. Wiesbütt-Moor and Wiesbütt-Teich are remnants of human intervention in nature and witnesses to mining in the Biebertal in the 18th century. The route leads on a forest path along the NSG to the Wiesbütt pond and to the entrance to the Bieberer Acht culture trail. A great trail leads down to the Lochbornteich, another witness of mining in the Biebertal. The pond served as a water reservoir to drive machines that were used in mining at the time. Following the cultural path, it leads to the Burgberg chapel. Without any noteworthy ups and downs, the route now leads through a beautiful beech forest around the castle hill. At the end of it, a forest path leads into the Biebertal. The route of a water pipe now requires some driving skills before a longer climb up to Villbach. With a wonderful view of the Jossatal and Beilstein, the route leads to the Hohe Sohl. The rich oak population in this section of the route is another contemporary witness in the Spessart. In the 19th century, the processing of oak bark as a tanning agent for leather production was an important source of income for the residents of the Flörsbach valley. After circumnavigating the Hohe Sohl, it goes over a meadow path and a last view from above into the Flörsbach valley back to Flörsbach and to the starting point.
