Schloss Braunfels - Burgruine Philippstein

A nice tour through the Solmser Land, which is dominated by a fairytale castle: The tour starts at the guest's house. First you go up the street to the market square and turn left into the Kurpark (mighty old trees!). Leave the Kurpark at the east entrance and follow the Tiergartenstraße southwards out of the village (hiking trail symbol X). The X continues to Philippstein with its beautifully restored castle ruins, down into town and along the Möttau to Bermbach. At the outskirts of Bermbach (cemetery), turn west until the "Dreieck" hiking trail is reached at the edge of the forest. On the back of the game park area, follow the triangle to Hirschhausen. The Lahnhöhenweg L leads back to Braunfels. Go up the street and turn right into Kastanienallee. A small path leads up to the left directly back to the market square. The castle grounds can alternatively be run in a west-east direction.
