Darmstadt Circular Hiking Trail 1: Ludwigshöhen Trail

This popular circular route leads from the southern outskirts of Darmstadt up into the wooded foothills of the Odenwald. The path explores the recreational area surrounding the Ludwigshöhe and follows a diverse mixture of wide forestry tracks, shaded forest trails, and paved viewpoints. A central highlight is the historic Ludwig Tower, whose observation platform offers a spectacular panoramic view over the Rhine Plain, the Taunus mountains, and the Frankfurt skyline. Most of the time teh route goes through extensive beech and pine forests, The route involves a steady but moderate climb and, thanks to excellent signage, is a classic for hikers and joggers in Southern Hesse.
