RTF Between Steigerwald and Frankenhöhe – Route 154

Official route of the RTF. On the long RTF route, varied nature of the two nature parks Steigerwald and Frankenhöhe will be experienced . The tour winds its way through a relief of narrow, wooded ridges and deeply incised valleys. In contrast to the deep forests, which are home to native animals such as deer and wild boar, the plateaus offer unique biotopes. A great variety of plants can be discovered on the so-called nutrient-poor grasslands of the juniper heaths. Historically, the region was an important margravial hunting ground, which emphasises the rich wildlife. The route is primarily on well-maintained roads, but the continuous ascents and descents challenge the leg muscles.
