Lahn Cycle Route: Marburg to Philippstein

Varied section of the Lahn cycle path, Hesse. In Marburg you pass the Elisabethkirche, one of the first Gothic churches in Germany (a visit is worthwhile). Other notable buildings are the Old University and the Palatine Palace. The Lahn continues to grow in size near Ruttershausen. A short time later you can see a conical mountain, on the top of which Gleiberg Castle towers over the hillside location. In Giessen you pass the tower of the old town church at the market and later a larger weir on the Lahn. The next highlight is Wetzlar with its cathedral square and the Kornmarkt with old half-timbered houses.
