Dorfkultur im Spremberger Land

Idyllic, interesting circular hike near Spremberg, Brandenburg. The original villages nestle as if scattered in the wide, hilly landscape between the Muskauer Faltenbogen and Spreewald. Here and there, small streams babble from the meadows into the village green, inviting hikers to linger. The village of Lieskau is the start and end point of the hiking tour through the Lusatian countryside to the east of the town of Spremberg. First mentioned in the second half of the 15th century, Lieskau surprises with a spacious castle, which today serves as a residential building. The old barns and stables still lend the village a manorial atmosphere. On the hike along the Grubensee lake, a remnant of early mining activity in the village, you cross the B156 and follow the forest path until you reach Reuthen. Reuthen is known for its 35-hectare landscape park and the annual horse riding tournaments. It is certainly one of the most beautiful villages in Lower Lusatia. Past the Kavaliershaus, the trail continues in a north-south direction through fields and forests to Klein Loitz. Here, too, you are in horse country. The Blum family's mini pony ranch is a highlight for guests of all ages. Once again, there is a small park to linger in at the manor house in the middle of the village. After a break, the route continues towards Bloischdorf. The Sorbian museum village impresses with its original village character. In the museum barn, visitors can learn lots of interesting facts about life and farm work as it was common in Lusatia a hundred years ago. A lovingly designed exhibition invites you to visit. Heading south, the path leads past the manor house until you see the Bloischdorf church a little later. This is one of the oldest churches in the region, dating back to the late 13th century. However, the simple building has a special feature. Iron slag from turf iron ore, which is common in the region, was inserted between the bricks when the church was built. This testifies to the early industrial development of the region in the Middle Ages. Follow the path along the Sorbian Impressions, a supra-regional cycle path, until you soon reach Schönheide. The village inn offers the opportunity to take a break and enjoy some hearty home cooking. The last stage leads along the B156 through forests and meadows back to Lieskau.
