This route starts in Hammersbach, very close to the railway station, and leads to the Waxensteinhütte - a beautifully situated self-catering hut. The ascent is on wide forest tracks and beautiful forest paths. From the Waxensteinhütte, marvellous views of the surrounding Wetterstein mountains can be enjoyed. It is also a favourable starting point for climbing tours to the Großer Waxenstein, the Hinterer Waxenstein and the Schöneckspitze.
There is a refreshment stop at the starting point.
