Über das Warmatsgundtal zur Fiderepasshütte

The ascent to the DAV mountain hut begins right next to the Fellhornbahn valley station. After the first few meters, some of which are quite strenuous, the mountain trail joins the well-maintained alpine road towards Warmatsgund. On the road, which is usually only slightly uphill, you quickly cover a good distance. Lower down in the Warmatsgund valley, the road becomes an alpine path. A short time later, at the end of the valley, a mountain path leads to the Kühgundhütte via a few hairpin bends in increasingly overgrown and steeper terrain. After the somewhat more demanding ascent, the path joins up with the hut ascent via the Fellhornbahn middle station in the area of the Kühgundhütte, which is later used as the way back. Past the Kühgundhütte, the ascent leads deeper into a small high valley. The refuge can be seen for the first time above the end of the valley. The mountain path, which starts off on a pleasant incline, climbs steeply uphill over scree at the end of the valley. Once at the top, there are still a few meters of sloping, rocky terrain to traverse before the steepest section of the day is conquered. Here you can expect old snow to remain well into spring, which can make this section a little more difficult. The ascent then meanders more gently uphill over a few hairpin bends. Once you reach the top of the meadow ridge, it is not far to the Fiderepasshütte. Return past the Kühgundhütte area mentioned above to the Fellhornbahn middle station and then take the Fellhornbahn back to the starting point of the hike.
