This route leads via the Bayerwald, the Sonnbergalm, and the Tegernseer Hütte up to the peaks of the Roßstein and Buchstein. This hiking route should not be underestimated. Even if the path to the rocks of the summit massif does not show any particular difficulties, the ascent to the two summits, especially to the Buchstein, requires sure-footedness and a head for heights.
The steep path through the forest to the Sonnbergalm does not yet give you an idea of how varied the further ascent is. On the south-facing climb to the Tegernseer Hütte, a rocky passage secured with a wire rope has to be negotiated. The hut can also be reached more easily by going around the Roßstein. The summit ascent to the Roßstein is relatively easy to manage anyway. For the Buchstein in the east of the Tegernseer Hütte, on the other hand, you have to lend a hand.
