This is a very scenic hike that begins with an ascent to two lookout points with a wonderful view of Pottenstein. Follow the Elisabeth Trail to the Himmelsleiter observation tower. From there it goes on a path along a corn field down the hill to the Schöngrundsee. You take the access path on the north side of the lake, which leads directly to the Teufelshöhle. A 45-minute tour of the cave costs 5 euros.
