Maximiliansweg Stage 17: Mitteralm - Hochrieshaus

This route is stage 17 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning at the Mitteralm and ending at the Hochrieshütte. The path descends into the Inn valley through forests and meadows, passing Brannenburg and crossing the Inn River to reach Nußdorf am Inn. From Nußdorf, a long ascent leads past mountain farms and through dense woodland up to the rocky ridge, following the steep crest to the summit of the Hochries mountain. Overnight stays are accommodated at the Hochrieshütte alpine lodge; wild camping is strictly prohibited along this mountain ridge. Hikers must pack a reliable water filter to treat surface water from natural springs and streams between valley settlements.
