Franconian Mountain Trail Stage 6: Schwarzenhammer - Arzberg

This route is stage 6 of the Fränkischer Gebirgsweg, a long-distance trail in Bavaria; this specific segment starts in Schwarzenhammer and ends in Arzberg. The path leads from the Selb Valley through the scenic Eger Valley (Egertal), following the river through the impressive "Gsteinigt" – a narrow, rocky gorge with steep granite formations and wild-romantic scenery. The itinerary continues toward the town of Hohenberg an der Eger, home to the historic Hohenberg Castle and the German Porcelain Museum, before reaching the final destination of Arzberg. Overnight stays are available in guesthouses, traditional inns, and hotels in Hohenberg or Arzberg, as wild camping is strictly prohibited throughout the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park. Water is reliably available in the towns at each end, but a sufficient supply should be carried for the stretches through the gorge and the open meadows.
