There are numerous hiking opportunities in the Weltenburger Enge nature reserve. This route is one of the most scenic. The paths are well marked.
From Kehlheim it goes over the first Danube bridge. On the other side of the river, follow path no. 3: "Weltenburger Höhenweg". This leads through the forest and to a vantage point at the Weiser Kreuz, a nice place for a lunch break. Continue to the picturesque Weltenburg Monastery. Just past that there is a cable ferry that takes you across the river. The ferry costs EUR 1.50 per adult.
On the other side of the river, path no. 1 "Donauroute" is then followed. First you go up the cliffs, from where you have a breathtaking view of the Weltenburg Monastery and the river valley. Finally, the trail descends again for a scenic walk along the north bank of the Danube. The Liberation Hall is clearly visible to the left of the Einsiedelei Klösterl. Accessible by bus and train. There are nice places to stop along the way.
